ALIA ALULI
STYLIST & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
ABOUT
Alia Aluli views styling as a form of costume creation. Each of the editorials that she creative directs, produces and styles, tell a story and creates a character and the imagined world in which they exist . Alia is interested in knowledge forms, and worlds that have been forgotten or subjugated by rationalism , and modern science. Alia Aluli looks to editorial as a form of magic, fantasy and escapism . The characters that she styles exist within a divine feminine universe. Inspired by surrealist cinema of the 30s-60s, modernist poetry, Celtic folklore, dance (both contemporary , burlesque, and ballet), Mediterranean and East Asian flora, and the beauty of expression in everyday urban life; Alia aims to bring texture, story telling, and fantasy to all her work. As with poetry, the parts and influence of images can be fragmented, but they always create something whole.
Alia has a BA in English Literature where she took a specialised interest in Avant Garde theatre and performance . She also has Masters in political science in which she explored magic, and divine understandings of the world, as well as feminist lenses, which celebrate non-linearity ; it is this that she also aims to bring into her visual work.
Alia has also worked as an assistant stylist at Wonderland Magazine, as well as to Ella Lucia for the U.K. Artist Celeste (including for THE BRITS, The GRAMMYS, James Corden Show, Universal Records music videos) since 2018, and has started her freelance journey since 2020.
